Rotterdam Ahoy

Multiwal plays an important role in the Eurovision Song Contest. Multiwal developed, produced, and installed 600 meters of mobile panel walls for Rotterdam Ahoy. With 35 different configurations, the Song Contest can be managed effectively during the corona period.

For years, Ahoy has been a loyal customer of Multiwal. And for good reason. Especially for Ahoy, Multiwal already produced special mobile panel walls in 2018 and 2019. The unique construction of the curved roof challenged Multiwal to deliver a strong piece of craftsmanship. Thanks to the custom-made interior walls, Ahoy can now optimally and flexibly respond to the various activities taking place there. One large space or several smaller spaces. Special roof construction
The roof construction of the Rotterdam Ahoy complex is characterized by extremely wide cantilevered curved spans. This allows the entire roof to move up and down by 70 mm during, for example, extreme snowfall or strong winds. Because the 7-meter-high Multiwal panel walls are equipped with gas springs, they can move with the roof. Optimal operation is thereby guaranteed. This once again proves that Multiwal devises a suitable solution for every challenge.  

Facts & Figures
In addition to the panel walls in the existing convention center, two of which are no less than 100 meters wide, Multiwal was also asked to install panel walls in the brand-new ICC building. Fifteen panel walls, 7 meters high. The 250 supplied elements make it possible to create more than 35 different configurations in an instant. Flexibility in its optimal form.

Ease of use
The walls can be opened effortlessly thanks to the ingenious Multi Electric system. And when they are closed again, they are rock solid. They are firmly clamped between ceiling rails and the floor by the extendable pressure beams. Thanks to the double elastic sealing rubbers, Multiwal also guarantees optimal sound insulation.
